Hello All
β Good News from Your Local Policing Team β
This week St Matthew's team 1 have been busy this week. On the 29th our local PC's made an arrest for failing to appear, this occurred in the town centre. They were then also further arrested for shop lifting and for racially abusing the arresting officer. There has also been lots of stop and searches within the town, specifically in the Boss Man Ally, ensuring that the town can be as safe as be. Officers and PCSO also stopped a shoplifting attempting mid action and was able to get items returned and offender was dealt with accordingly.
A residents meeting was also held at Tantarra Court to discuss with the residents about their concerns and too ensure they are being heard as they live within our area day to day, so it is important to have these meetings. PCSO's have been conducting targeted patrols in hotspot areas of Walsall and the town centre, offering a physical presence and also as a deterrent. We have been liaising very closely with our shop staff and owners to ensure shoplifting also gets dealt with or at the least to reduce it.
Officers have also been carrying out our NTE briefing or Night Time Economy meetings. This was to have all the bars and clubs together to discuss how the night will go and to ensure everything runs smoothly. This took place on Friday as it is a popular night as well as Saturday night which will take place later on. π Upcoming Police & Community Engagements π
Our Officers are aiming to continue the level of arrests and stop and searches in the town centre whilst at the same time still engaging with the members of public of the community we serve. Speedwatches are set to be in place as are streetwatches especially as it is approaching Halloween. An event is also being held at the Walsall Bus Station's Hub pre-Halloween to offer out advice and tips to stay safe around Halloween. It is also an opportunity to give out the βanti-Halloween and no trick-or-treatersβ posters/cards for anyone who wishes to have them displayed at home. Officers also will be proactive in the Arboretum during the Bonfire Night so look out for us there. We also have more scheduled meetings at our local residents homes to engage with the residents.
